• A message from our CEO, Richard Stockinger

August 28, 2017

Thank you for keeping the team in Texas in your thoughts and prayers during the preparation for Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath. I wanted to share an update with all of you. We have been monitoring the situation closely over the weekend and are pleased to report that all Taco Cabana and Pollo Tropical team members are safe and accounted for.

Our Houston Taco Cabana and Pollo Tropical restaurants remain closed until further notice. We are waiting for waters to recede, our facilities to be inspected and roads deemed safe for passing before reopening. Many of the restaurants appear to be in good condition; however, we have been unable to assess the condition of the Taco Cabana restaurant in Galveston as there is currently no access to this area.

The San Antonio and Austin Taco Cabana and Pollo Tropical locations are open and operating under near normal conditions. We will continue to assess any significant changes in the weather in these markets and advise if necessary.

In the coming days, restaurant support teams from San Antonio, Austin and Dallas-Ft. Worth will be formed and sent to Houston to assist the operations team there. In addition, we will be feeding disaster relief workers and those staying in shelters in the days and weeks to come.

The gratitude of the entire leadership team goes out to the operators that have been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of their teams and the restaurants. Their leadership, compassion and commitment have been nothing short of heroic and we thank them.

Let’s continue to provide our support to all those in need – both at the restaurant and community levels. Please continue to pray for our Houston family as they are still dealing with the effects of this storm.
