POLLO TROPICAL® COLLECTING USED MOBILE PHONES FOR WOMEN’S SHELTERS Guests who donate Jan. 21 will receive free Calypso Beef wraps

(JACKSONVILLE) Many cellphone users have an old cellphone they are no longer using, and Pollo Tropical is offering a way to get rid of them and support a great cause at the same time. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, guests can help several Florida battered women’s shelters by dropping off their old phones at the restaurants, and in return receive a free Calypso Beef wrap.
The annual Handheld for a Handheld event, now in its fourth year, provides cellphones to abused women for emergency use. Pollo Tropical hopes to collect 2,000 phones to donate to women’s charities including Women in Distress of Broward County, Harbor House of Central Florida, and the Naples Shelter for Abused Women and Children.
“We strongly believe in giving back to the communities in which we do business, and our annual Handheld for a Handheld campaign is a great way to get our guests involved,” said Pollo Tropical Director of Marketing Sandra Pascual. “It’s a total win-win – guests get rid of their unused items and get a delicious Calypso Beef wrap in return.”
The Calypso Beef is a blend of Prime Rib Steak strips with our pickled red onions, peppers and a hint of beef broth.
There is no limit on the number of phones customers can donate or the number of Calypso Beef wraps they can receive, and the phones don’t need to be in working order – they just need to have a battery.
