The company does not offer franchises in the continental United States. We own and operate all our restaurants domestically except for certain “institutional” licensed restaurants (e.g., college campuses, airports, etc.).

Thank you for your interest in Pollo Tropical® for markets OUTSIDE the United States. PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY.
CANDIDATES MAY BE CONSIDERED ONLY AFTER THEY ANSWER THE QUESTIONS LISTED BELOW.
Pollo Tropical® is expanding internationally, primarily through direct franchising (meaning franchising to restaurant operators, not selling master licenses to others who will then sell sub franchises). To be eligible for consideration, regardless of the market in question, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
1. Significant (preferably 5 years or more) experience in high volume, multi-unit restaurant management. This includes restaurant, hotel, contract feeding, catering experience or experience otherwise within the hospitality industry. Ownership of the operations is not required but does add to the qualifications of the candidate (if the applicant is a financial investor, an equity partner must fulfill this requirement).
2. Demonstrable experience in successfully building commercial retail properties.
3. Verifiable minimum net worth of $5.0 million US. The minimum requirement may be greater depending upon the size of the territory to be developed.
4. Verifiable unencumbered minimum liquidity of $1.5 million US. The minimum requirement may be greater depending upon the size of the territory to be developed.
5. Excellent credit, personal and business references for the developing entity and its principals.
6. Business infrastructure capable of supporting the investment and operations necessary for the territory sought to be developed, recognizing that revenues during the time the first site is being developed will be limited.
7. Adequate capital reserves available to fulfill the development opportunity.
These strict requirements reflect the capital and resources needed given the considerable development and constructions costs, and our minimum commitment of 5 restaurants per territory. We regret that we cannot consider applicants who do not fit these criteria with their own resources.
